Cheeky Blue Tit

Amber Progress

A quick update post to let you see the progress made on this drawing. This drawing is taking shape.  I am using Derwent Watercolour Pencils again with the addition of drawing pencils to help create the colours I want. This is the first time in a while I have drawn a 'whole' dog as opposed to just the head.  Looking forward to seeing it finished.....though[...]

Amber Take Two

I started this drawing again on my trusty old heavy cartridge paper pad and the difference is huge.  The smooth paper lets me build layers of colour just the way there are layers of fur.  I can build colour and depth and life on this pad.  How could I abandon it for something new......it is like cheating on a good relationship, you just shouldn't do it. [...]

With every drawing I learn something new.  Often I fight to bring life to my drawings but this time I am giving up. I chose the wrong paper and it means I cannot get the effect that I want.  It has a texture on it which I thought might add something new to the picture but it is not giving me what I want.
