This is my year to be brave and trying new things is part of that. I met a wonderful artist at the Open Studios Christmas Event, his name is Murray Ince. It was the first time I hadn’t him but I spent a wonderful weekend with his infectious enthusiasm and enjoyed watching his pastel paintings grow.
To cut a long story short he is doing a series of workshops at Quarr Abbey and I decided to go along to the first one to learn more about pastels. It was a cold, wet day and I had to drag myself there but I had a wonderful time with a fabulous group of people, including some who had never attempted any kind of art before. I had forgotten how much fun art can be, I love what I do and enjoy every moment I am drawing but this was free and messy and just FUN!
I was having so much fun I forgot to take photos till I was finished but here is a quick look. I chose this photo I took at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary last year.
This was my set up with some old pastels I had.
And this is my little donkey.
If you do one thing new this year. Take an art class. I would highly recommend one of Murrays as his patience knows no bounds.

I will be back after I have met and cuddled my new grandson. 🙂
